THE
$10,000 MAIN EVENT SATELLITE GUIDE
Coming to Las Vegas for the 2008 event? Below is a
listing of the typical
satellites offered at the Rio Hotel & Casino on a
daily basis
Qualify
Online For The WSOP

QUALIFY ONLINE FOR THE MAIN
EVENT
The best way to assure
yourself a seat in the 2008 main event, even
before you arrive in Las Vegas, is to win one of
the many online satellites. Almost all online
poker rooms will be running satellite events, they
will provide not only an entry fee, but also air
fare, hotels, and expense monies. You could
qualify for your seat for as little as $1 at
several online poker rooms. Every main event final
table will feature a majority of players who won
their way there through an online event!
Many of the recent Main Event champions won their seats
online, starting with the storybook tale of Chris
Moneymaker who's $40 dollar investment in a
PokerStars satellite, went on to make poker
history, and fuel the tremendous growth in poker
we enjoy today. Could you be next?

SATELLITE EVENTS
AT THE RIO DURING THE TOURNAMENT
Satellite events run daily at the Rio Hotel Casino
in Las Vegas. One table satellites for no-limit
holdem, and for the next day's scheduled event,
run 24/7 starting May 28, 2008. For the
first time in 2008, satellite tournaments will be
run in their own separate room. This promises to
be a big improvement and satellite action should
be running smoothly. Single table satellites start
off with $175 dollar buy in, 10 handed tables, the
payoff are (3) $500 tournament chips and $120 in
cash. This means $130 or $13 dollars a
player is kept as vig in each satellite. The good
news is that the Vig stays the same as you move up
through the buy ins. $225 pays (4) Chips and $120
cash, $275 pays (5) chips and $120, up the ladder
to $525 buy in pays (10) Chips and $120 cash. At
the $1,030 buy in level you receive $10,000 in
tournament chips and $150 in cash, so the table
vig raises to $150.
Most single table satellite formats are winner
take all events, although two, and three way chops
are not unusual between players, and Harrah's will
allow satellites chops when agreeable to all
players. Negotiation of these single table chops
is a poker skill all to itself. Don't be pressured
into deals you don't want to make, you are never
obligated to chop a satellite. The tournament
chips that are paid to the winners of the satellite
tournaments, can be used to buy into any event, but not into other satellites or 2nd chance
tournaments. The chips are negotiable between
players, but Harrah's will not redeem tournament
chips for cash.
Want to make a last longer? Players in
satellites, often form a pool that goes to the
member of the pool that lasts the longest. Players
wanting into the last longer pool, put up an
agreed upon amount of money, $50, $100 a player or
more. The player in the pool who lasts the longest
gets the pool. You don't have to win the
satellite, just last longer than anyone else who
is in the pool. The best thing about a last longer
bet, is that the house takes no percentage of it,
it is the only vig free bet you will find at the
World Series.
Single table satellites are a great way to earn
your way into one of the major events for a small
investment. Other players, skilled at sit and go
play online, make a nice profit by specializing in
single table satellite play throughout the event.

RIO MEGA
SATELLITES FOR THE MAIN EVENT
These Mega satellites, which grow larger as
the main event nears, put 100s of players into the
Championship event. The prize pool is divided into
as many $10,000 seats as possible with the
remaining money going to the bubble finisher.
Unlike the Tournaments chips that you win in the
single table satellites, this entry is not
transferable, the satellite winner must play in
the main event.(In the event that you are already
registered in the main event you can take the
$10,000 in cash)
Mega-Satellites begin May 28, 2008 for the
$10,000 buy in championship event. The daily
schedule will include a $330 buy in Mega, Monday -
Thursday at 3:00pm, a $550 buy in Mega
Thursday-Sunday at 3:00pm and a $1,060 buy in Mega
daily at 9:00pm. The Mega satellite action heats
up during Mega Satellite days, July 2 - 5, with
$330 buy in Megas at 6:00pm, $550 buy ins at
10:00am and 4:00pm and 1:00pm and 9:00pm daily.
Still not in? Your last chance before reaching in
your pocket and coming up with the $10,000 buy in
will be a Mega Turbo event, $1050 entry, July 6 at
8:00am. $2,250 Mega Satellites for the $50,000
HORSE event will be held on May 31, and June 1,
16, 20 and 21 at 5:00pm
As the Main Event draws near, many of the Mega
satellites will draw 100s of entries, perhaps
giving away as many as 40 or 50 seats. When the
Tournament gets down to that number of entries it
is over! Remember you are not trying to win this
tournament, if there are 40 seats to be given
away, you just need to survive to the final four
tables. These mega satellite events offer a
skilled player some of the best overlays at the
event.
